The Labor Market in the Aftermath of the Great Recession

The project investigates the changes in the structure and performance of the labor market that have resulted from the global economic downturn that began in late 2007. It will explore the factors that led to the sharp decline in labor market activity during this period, and offer insights on how recent developments may affect the future path of unemployment, retirement, wage growth, and other measures of labor market performance. One goal is to draw graduate students into the study of the key issues, such as the determinants of labor supply and demand that determine labor market outcomes. The findings of the project will be communicated to policy-makers so that they can help to inform the policy process.
