NB21-17: Projections of Age-Specific US Labor Force Participation Based on a Dynamic Microsimulation Model Accounting for Education and Health

This project adapts a dynamic microsimulation model that is being developed for five European countries, and uses it to project age-specific labor force participation in the United States. A focus is on labor force participation by people with health limitations in various policy settings, and how it differs by socio-demographic characteristics. The model will also be used to simulate the effects of different policies for the inclusion of people with health impairments, and the construction of comparative “what if” scenarios. The microsimulation model will be made available to SSA as an app with a Graphical User Interface for analysts and, via its source codes, allow further refinement for future studies.
