Economics of Scientific Research: Funding, Structure and Outcomes 2024-2026

DATE: July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2027

This project will promote research on the productivity of scientific research funding, of different institutional arrangements for early-career scientists, and of scientific inquiry more generally. It will lay the groundwork for new research that takes advantage of expanding networks that include researchers studying the economics of science as well as members of the scientific and research funding communities.

Reinhilde Veugelers is a professor in the department of management, strategy, and innovation at KU Leuven in Belgium. Her research focuses on industrial organization, international economics and strategy, and innovation and science.

Donna K. Ginther, Co-Principal Investigator

Donna Ginther is the Roy A. Roberts & Regents Distinguished Professor of Economics at the University of Kansas. Her major fields of study are scientific labor markets, gender differences in employment outcomes, wage inequality, science policy, and investments in children.
