Current Population Survey (CPS) Supplements: Voting and Registration

The CPS Voting and Registration Supplement is a biennial supplement to the Census Bureau's Current Population Survey, conducted every November during Congressional and Presidential election years since 1964, tracking characteristics of American voters. It covers voting-age citizens and voting/registration rates by age, sex, race, ethnicity, and other demographics, including whether and how respondents voted or registered. The survey does not ask about partisan affiliation.

All files follow the naming convention cpsnovYYYYMM where YYYY is the year and MM is the month. Here we offer the original files and documentation as well as Stata, SAS, and SPSS programs to read the raw files.
