Economics of Firearm Markets, Crime, and Gun Violence

The Economics of Firearm Markets, Crime, and Gun Violence conference will bring together researchers who are developing new insights on the links between firearms, the markets in which they are traded, the policies that regulate them, and crime. The conference will also develop interest in these topics among graduate students and early career researchers.

Marcella Alsan, Co-Principal Investigator

Marcella Alsan, who is both an economist and a physician, is a professor of Economics at Stanford University. Her research focuses on the causes and consequences of racial disparities in health care usage and health outcomes.

Philip J. Cook, Co-Principal Investigator

Philip J. Cook is the ITT/Terry Sanford Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Public Policy Studies in the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University. His primary focus at the moment is the economics of crime.
