Lisa Kahn and Isaac Sorkin to Co-Direct Labor Studies Program

Research Associates Lisa Kahn and Isaac Sorkin will become the co-directors of the Labor Studies Program on September 1, 2026. Kahn is the Helen F. and Fred H. Gowen Professor in the Social Sciences, and a professor of economics at the University of Rochester. Her research focuses on the effect of technological change, organizational structure, and education on labor market outcomes. Sorkin is an associate professor and Trione Faculty Scholar at Stanford University. He has studied labor market search, the effects of social insurance programs and minimum wages, and earnings inequality. 

Kahn and Sorkin will succeed David Autor of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Alexandre Mas of the University of California, Berkeley, who have co-directed the program since 2017.
