Jason Furman, the former chair of the President's Council of Economic Advisers and a faculty member at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, addressed the role of older workers in the aggregate labor market in a keynote address at a recent NBER conference supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. He considered the influence of various public policies on labor supply decisions, and examined long-term trends as well as developments during the COVID-19 pandemic.
