NBER Working Papers

The NBER working paper series includes over 1000 papers each year, authored by leading research economists, on a wide variety of topics. These papers are circulated prior to publication for comment and discussion. The working paper series began in 1973, and now includes more than 24,000 papers. Most of the older entries have been published in academic journals.

Subscribers may elect to subscribe to all papers, or to a subset of papers in one or more subfields of economics. The NBER's research activities are divided into twenty programs, each corresponding to a major sub-field in economics. Pricing for each program is related to the typical number of papers that are distributed in that program during the year. A single paper may be listed in multiple programs.
