Energy, Trade and the Macroeconomy 2024-2027

DATE: July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2027

This project will develop new research on the interactions of energy system decarbonization and trade, and on the interactions of energy system decarbonization and the macroeconomy. The project will support sixteen new research studies, and the results will inform policymakers about aggregate and distributional impacts of policies at the intersection of trade and energy, and macro and energy.

Joseph S. Shapiro, Co-Principal Investigator

Joseph S. Shapiro is Associate Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, in Agricultural & Resource Economics and the Department of Economics. He studies climate change, air pollution, clean energy, renewable and exhaustible natural resources, and especially water pollution.

Lint Barrage, Co-Principal Investigator

Lint Barrage is an associate professor of climate and energy economics at ETH Zurich. Her research examines the macroeconomic and fiscal impacts of climate and energy transitions, and the role of new energy technologies in these dynamics.
