These files can be linked via FIPS codes to CMS's SSA to FIPS CBSA and MSA County Crosswalk to get SSA County codes or MSA codes though users should be aware that it appears that CMS did not update their SSA to FIPS county crosswalk to use 2010 Census definitions. The Census CBSA to FIPS County Crosswalk source file includes the year Census made the listing.

Note: the 2023 crosswalk uses county-equivalent planning regions for Connecticut. See Census Bureau's documentation for more information on these regions.

CBSA to FIPS County Crosswalk Files

Update May 2026: Expanded crosswalks to include all U.S. counties; non-CBSA counties are included with crosswalk fields left blank. To retain only CBSA counties, users can filter the data on the county_in_cbsa indicator variable (0 = Not in a CBSA, 1 = In a CBSA).
