The NBER has taken steps in the last couple of months to call greater
attention to our Conference Code of Conduct

all conference attendees to attest that they have read and will abide by
the policy. Everyone should also be aware of our Sexual Harassment
Prevention Policy

Several members of our staff could receive complaints under these
policies and we thought it would be helpful to provide some training on
what to do when you receive a report of a code violation. We have
arranged for a virtual training webinar on Monday, March 13th at 10am
and we are inviting all interested staff members to attend. Zoom details
are below but we are also reserving the 3rd floor conference room for
those who will be at 1050.
Frank Zych of HR Knowledge will present the training. He has customized
a course he regularly offers with information specific to NBER policies.
This training will provide guidance on what to do when you become aware
of any concerns with regard to harassment of any kind, workplace
bullying or other inappropriate behavior.
The learning objectives include
• Knowing when and how to report a concern
• The difference between “formal,” “informal,” and “observational”
issues
• The nature of “confidentiality”
• Potential risks to the NBER and to you
• Follow through, follow up and closure of complaints
