Dear Staff Colleagues -
On March 17 2020, we took the collective leap into the world of
remote work and announced the closure of the NBER office. We had no
idea what the weeks and months ahead would bring. It has been an
extraordinary journey, and I cannot let this milestone pass without
thanking you for your creativity and flexibility in adapting to the
constraints that the pandemic placed on our lives and our workflows.
Your hard work has not only kept our organization running smoothly; in
many areas it has enabled us to discover new and better ways to advance
our mission.
I am incredibly fortunate to work with such a talented and
dedicated team, and I don't say that often enough. Please know that I
speak for the whole economics profession when I say "thank you" for your
extraordinary efforts over the three years. Have a great weekend!
