1. The
original data set covered 2001-2005, which was later
supplemented to include
2006-2007 for those who requested it. This extension will now
cumulatively more
than double the initial length of the data set. IRI would like
to cover at least
some portion of the direct cost of assembling this data set.
For this reason,
the following pricing schedule is now in place: a.
The price for 2001-2011 (11 years) will be $1000. b.
For those who already purchased the data set,
the cost to update 2008-2011 (or 2006-2011 if you did not
previously update the
2001-2005 dataset) will be $500. This will be provided on
DVDs. c.
No other combinations will provided. 2. In
order to purchase the data set as a whole, or the 2008-2011
update, researchers must complete an updated version of the
NDA. This NDA allows either option 1a
or 1b. The conditions of the NDA are unchanged. If this is an
update
purchase and you are collaborating with another author, one
members signature
is sufficient. Note the NDA includes the provision of later
years by reference:
If
subsequent
years of similar data either are included in the initial
shipment or are
provided later to the researcher, these are subject to the
same conditions
unless these data are covered by a different agreement. 3. Completed
NDAs may be returned to mike.kruger@symphonyiri.com
for now; IRI will ship beginning January 2. As Mike will be
retiring during 2013, this email address will
change and we will be update the list information when we get
a firm address.
IRI cannot commit to continuing this program. Please do not
make finishing
your dissertation contingent on receiving year 2012 data. The structure of the extension data set is
the same as the
original in terms of markets and categories. The time stamp on
the consumer
panel data has been improved, so it will be possible to
directly relate the
category purchases households made on a trip to the total
purchases across all
categories made on the trip. The years 2008-2011 were an
unfortunately
interesting part of the business cycle, and with the
increasing use of this
data set by economists these added years will likely be of
interest for those
macroeconomic topics. Tempting as it is to repeat the entire
substance of the NDA
in this email, we will limit ourselves to these reminders: (1)
cite the Bronnenberg,
Kruger and Mela paper if you use this dataset to ensure a
consistent
representation of the data to those who may be interested in
it, (2) send
papers to IRI for review solely to check for factual errors in
representing the
raw data, and (3) the data are for academic research only
e.g. no consulting.
