Subject: NIHCM Research Grant opportunity

Dear Heidi and Amy,

I'm reaching out again this year in the hope that you can help to let
the members of the NBER Health Care group know about the
investigator-initiated research grant opportunity available through
the National Institute for Health Care Management (NIHCM)
Foundation. We really appreciated your help in this regard last year
- this group of researchers is exactly who we hope will apply!

As was the case last year, we are again making $1 million available
to support the research grants and our companion journalism grant
program. The exact allocation of funds across the programs will
depend on the relative merits of applications received. Last year,
we awarded approximately $550,000 to support 12 research grants, and
a similar outcome is likely this year.

We are wide open on topics and are looking for studies with strong
potential to have a positive impact on the U.S. health care system by
improving efficiency, quality, access to care or equity.

We are currently accepting brief Letters of Inquiry via our online
entry system. Interested applicants must submit an LOI by our
deadline - June 30, 2021. We will invite full 10-page proposals from
a small subset of applicants later in the summer. Projects would
generally begin in January 2022.

Full information on this opportunity and past awards can be found at
<https://www.nihcm.org/grants/research-grants>https://www.nihcm.org/grants/research-grants

I would also be very happy to speak directly with interested
researchers about potential study ideas. People may email me at
<mailto:jschoenman_at_nihcm.org>jschoenman_at_nihcm.org for further information.

Thanks so much for helping us to spread the word about this opportunity!

Julie
