Dear EEE Program Members -

I am writing to share the news that Catherine Wolfram, who has led the
Environment and Energy Economics Program for the past five years with
great distinction, has been named the Deputy Assistant Secretary for
Climate and Energy Economics at the US Treasury Department, effective
today.  Catherine has done a great job of advancing both energy and
environmental economics research at NBER and supporting the launch of a
number of new initiatives, including the annual Environmental and Energy
Policy and the Economy series.  Please join me in thanking Catherine for
her service and in wishing her well as she begins to address a host of
critical policy issues in this newly-created position at Treasury.

In the coming weeks, I will reach out to a number of program members to
solicit advice on selecting a new program director.  I hope that you
will not hesitate to contact me and to share your views about the
factors that made Catherine's time as program leader so  successful and
the attributes should be most important in choosing the next director.
I would also welcome your suggestions about candidates who might be well
suited to this role.  I look forward to your input.

Thank you for your ongoing engagement with the NBER, and all best wishes
for continuing to navigate the pandemic as well as possible.
