Dear DEV members:
Thanks so much for participating in the Fall 2019 meeting, and for filling
out our post-meeting survey! We hope everyone enjoyed the meeting as much
as we did.
A few notes:
* The NBER DEV Summer Institute will be held on Monday and Tuesday, July 20
and 21. Rohini Pande and Pascaline Dupas will give Master Lectures. Thanks
to Chris Blattman, Shawn Cole, Dave Donaldson, Kelsey Jack, Seema
Jayachandran, Paul Niehaus, and Alessandra Voena for serving on the
program committee. The call for papers will be forthcoming.
* With regard to the Fall 2020 DEV meeting: a clear majority of those
answering the survey preferred moving the meeting off of the weekend. We
have therefore scheduled the fall 2020 meeting for Friday, November 20,
2020 from 8:30am - 5:00pm, with a group dinner the previous evening
(Thursday, November 19, at 6:30pm). There will also be a a pre-conference
for junior affiliates on Thursday, November 19 from 3-6pm. Please mark your
calendars. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible there.
* With respect to the new presentation format we tried at this meeting, 45%
of those who responded preferred the new format (mix of 1 hr/30 min
presentations), 45% prefer all 45-minute presentations, with the other 10%
preferring other formats. Given this, we will stick with the mixed 1
hour/30 min format for the fall 2020 meeting.
