Dear DEV members:

We are looking forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming DEV / BREAD
joint conference on November 22-23. Many thanks to Oriana Bandiera,
Robin Burgess, Melissa Dell, Ted Miguel, and Dean Yang who organized the
program along with the two of us. We had over 200 submissions, so thank
you all for your help in selecting what looks to be a great program.

The presentations start at 1 pm on Friday, November 22, with lunch
beforehand at noon. In addition, as we have done in past years, that
morning there will be an informal pre-conference for junior affiliates.
We are grateful to Lorenzo Casaburi and Namrata Kala for organizing
this. You can find the program for both the pre-conference and the
regular DEV/BREAD conference here:
http://conference.nber.org/sched/DEVf19

We also want to extend our warmest congratulations to our new Nobel
Laureates Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo, and Michael Kremer! As all
three of them have discussed in their remarks, this prize reflects the
remarkable research being done in development economics more broadly. To
reflect on this, as well how the field has evolved more generally over
the past 20+ years, we've asked each of them to share some of their
reflections during the conference dinner on November 22. We encourage
everyone to attend!

We look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks in Cambridge.

All the best,
Seema and Ben
