Dear NBER DEV Program Members:
We are writing to you with some program updates:
* We are delighted to welcome a number of new members to the DEV
program. Please join us in welcoming Jie Bai, Lauren Bergquist, Isaac
Mbiti, and Jack Willis as new NBER Faculty Research Fellows and Jessica
Goldberg and Maisy Wong as new NBER Research Associates. We are also
delighted that Michael Callen, Raquel Fernandez, and Paulina Oliva are
also joining the DEV program. We look forward to seeing all of you at
the coming meetings.
* The DEV Summer Institute will be held from Sunday, July 21 (beginning
with lunch) through Tuesday, July 23 (ending at lunch). It's an exciting
line-up of papers and master lectures. Thank you to Robin Burgess, Taryn
Dinkelman, Dean Karlan, Manisha Shah, and Daniel Xu who served with us
on the selection committee (we had over 250 submissions!). You can find

We very much hope you can attend for what we think will be a great
event. You should be receiving an invitation shortly from Rob Shannon if
you have not received it already.
* Our own Ted Miguel will be giving the NBER-wide Methods Lecture at the
summer institute this year, entitled “Research Transparency and
Reproducibility in Economics and Beyond." Ted's lecture is scheduled
from 5:30PM - 7:30 PM on Sunday, July 21. The DEV program on Sunday will
finish at 5:15pm in the same room, which should allow everyone from DEV
who would like to attend to do so!
* Please note on your calendars that the fall 2019 program meeting is
November 22-23 in Cambridge. This meeting will be joint with BREAD.
