RE: Summer Institute 2017- Call for Papers

It is that time of year when we start planning for the NBER Summer
Institute. The Development of the American Economy workshop will take
place from July 10 - 13, 2017 at the NBER's office, 1050
Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, MA.

As always, we would like to have a range of topics covered. This year
we are organizing two types of sessions:

1) Regular sessions (50 minute presentations)

2) Egg-timer sessions (5 minute presentations without Q&A). The
egg-timer sessions were introduced recently and have been well
received. They are a way to advertise work in progress and provide
more people with an opportunity to showcase their work. Time limits
will be strictly enforced.

You can apply for either or both sessions. If you have a paper that
you would like to present, please upload a copy of your paper,
proposal or detailed abstract here by March 20,
2017: http://papers.nber.org/confsubmit/backend/cfp?id=SI17DAE.
Submissions need not be completed papers. Please note in the
comments section of the submission page if you would like your paper
considered for the egg-timer session as well. The format of the
submission page is different this year. Your submission will default
to this workshop but you will have the option to submit to others on
the second page of the form.

If you have a presentation that you would like to present at the
Egg-timer (5 minutes per presentation) session, please upload a copy
of your abstract here by March 20, 2017:
http://www.nber.org/confsubmit/backend/cfp?id=SIDAEe.

The format of the submission page is different this year. Your
submission will default to this workshop but you will have the option
to submit to others on the second page of the form.

You should also feel free to suggest interesting papers by those
outside the DAE program, especially those by junior colleagues who
might benefit from exposure to the NBER (and vice versa). Invitations
and logistical information will be sent out by early May.

If you have questions regarding other aspects of the Summer
Institute, please contact Rob Shannon in the NBER's Conference
Department, 617/868-3900 or rshannon_at_nber.org
We look forward to seeing you all in Cambridge.
