Dear ITI group:

Late last week I sent around a brief survey. I have received 29 responses from Bureau family, and here are the results:

Q1. Was the Marriott acceptable as a location for the summer institute?

Results: all 29 people felt that it was

Q2: Which do you prefer for the summer institute, the Marriott or the Marlowe (knowing that other groups are meeting at the Sonesta).

Results: Marriott - 10; Marlowe - 16; Indifferent - 3.

So I have reported to Jim Poterba and Carl Beck that there is a slight (but significant, I think) preference for the Marlowe. In written comments, those preferring the Marriott mentioned the convenience of the T and dining options; whereas those preferring the Marlowe mentioned the size/acoustics of the Marriott meeting room, the lack of WiFi, and the proximity of the Marlowe to other meetings at the Sonesta.

I anticipate that we will be meeting at the Marlowe next year, when the ITI summer institute will run from July 11-14, 2016.

Sincerely,
Rob

P.S. Those of you at the summer institute will know that Barbara Spencer fell while catching a bus, and she dislocated her shoulder. I have been in close touch with Jim, who reports that she had surgery in Vancouver earlier this week and is returning home this morning. Flowers from the group are being delivered today, and the card should be arriving any day, too.
