Dear ITI group:
Let me again thank Eric Verhoogen and Steve Redding for organizing the summer institute this year, and all the paper presenters, discussants and participants for making it such a successful week. The many positive comments that I heard on the first-week time and the Marlowe location leads me to conclude that we should maintain those in coming years. Next year, Arnaud Costinot will join Steve Redding in organizing the summer institute.
Coming up, we have the following program meetings:
December 6-7, 2013, winter meeting, San Francisco Federal Reserve
March 28-29, 2014, spring meeting, most likely in Washington D.C.
I sent around an email early this calendar year mentioning that NBER groups sometimes had program meetings in Washington, D.C. to involve more persons from statistical and funding agencies there. There was positive feaddback from the group on this idea, so we have tentatively scheduled the March meeting for that location. Dave Richardson and Matt Slaughter will be organizing the first day (Friday March 28) with papers of particular interest to that audience, and also some invited speakers from Washington, and I will be organizing the second half-day (Saturday March 29) selecting from the usual submitted papers. This location will become more firm in the coming months, so you can expect another email with details from me in early September, along with the call for paper for the winter meeting in San Francisco.
Best,
Rob Feenstra
