Dear Researcher,

We are writing to invite you to submit a paper or to express your interest
in attending the 16th CEPR Conference on Applied Industrial Organization,
which will take place in Zurich, 21-23 May 2015. The event will be
organised by Gregory S. Crawford (University of Zurich and CEPR), Armin
Schmutzler (University of Zurich and CEPR) and Michelle Sovinsky
(University of Zurich and CEPR).

The conference series aims to contribute to an analytical understanding of
the issues raised by competition, innovation and investment, develop
empirical protocols and tests of economic models, promote the exchange and
the dissemination of results at the forefront of research, and finally,
evaluate current competition and regulation policies. It will cover the
state of the art in applied and empirical industrial organization.

Keynote speeches will be given by:

Ariel Pakes (Harvard University),
Massimo Motta (Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Chief Economist, DG Competition
and CEPR), and
Pat Bajari (Chief Economist, Amazon.com)

The conference will be preceded by the 12th CEPR School in Applied
Industrial Organization, which will take place on 20th of May 2015. The aim
of the annual School is to provide a forum for intellectual exchanges
between advanced PhD students and more experienced researchers in the field
of industrial organization. Senior researchers are invited to encourage
their students to apply to the school. A separate invitation will be sent
for the school in the following weeks.

Please forward this call to others, especially junior faculty, who might
have papers suitable for the conference.

Papers will be selected by a committee formed by the organisers and the
members of the steering committee of the Applied IO Programme:

Bart Bronnenberg (Tilburg University and CEPR)
Gregory S Crawford (University of Zurich and CEPR)
Peter J Davis (Compass Lexecon and CEPR)
Jan De Loecker (Princeton University, NBER, and CEPR)
Alessandro Gavazza (London School of Economics, NBER, and CEPR)
Rachel Griffith (University of Manchester, IFS, and CEPR)
Martin Peitz (University of Mannheim and CEPR)
Andrea Prat (Columbia University and CEPR)
Katharine Rockett (University of Essex and CEPR)
Philipp Schmidt-Dengler (University of Vienna and CEPR)
Armin Schmutzler (University of Zurich and CEPR)
Michelle Sovinsky (University of Zurich and CEPR)
Otto Toivanen (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and CEPR)
Tommaso Valletti (Imperial College London, University of Rome "Tor
Vergata", and CEPR)
Frank Verboven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and CEPR)
Nikos Vettas (Athens University of Economics & Business and CEPR)

In a change from past practice, we are unfortunately not able to guarantee
accommodation expenses will be covered for all participants on the
programme (though we will try). We can, however, assist with hotel
reservations. Please let us know with your submission whether you wish to
be considered for accommodation funding. Funding priority will be given to
junior faculty. As typical, travel expenses will only be covered in
exceptional circumstances, according to the usual CEPR travel guidelines.
