Would you be willing to post the below to NBER researchers in the health economics program?
I think this is a very good and under-appreciated opportunity for experienced researchers to spend 13 months on research away from administrative responsibilities and students. Fellows can obtain access to NCHS data including variables that are not publicly available, such as geographic identifiers. It would also be a great opportunity for tenure-track faculty to take a year's unpaid leave and maybe extend their clock by a year. Finally, it is an opportunity for post doctoral or predoctoral students to be paid an adult wage while getting ready to go on the market. It would be great to have applications from NBER researchers or their colleagues or students.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) and AcademyHealth are seeking applications for their 2010 Health Policy Fellowship.
FELLOWSHIP GOALS
The aim of the fellowship is to foster collaboration between NCHS staff and visiting scholars. The fellowship allows scholars to conduct new and innovative analyses and participate in developmental and health policy activities related to the design and content of future NCHS surveys and offers access to the data resources<http://www.mmsend2.com/ls.cfm?r=22048973&sid=7402731&m=816845&u=AcadHealth&s=http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/express.htm> provided by the CDC.
WHO SHOULD APPLY
Applicants may be at any stage in their careers-from doctoral students to senior investigators. Doctoral students must have completed course work and be at the dissertation phase of their program.
REQUIRED TRAINING
Applicants must demonstrate training and/or experience in health services research and methodology, reflecting disciplines such as:
* Public Health
* Public Administration
* Economics
* Sociology
* Health Care Administration
* Behavioral Sciences
LOCATION AND COMPENSATION
The entirety of the fellowship must be completed at the NCHS headquarters in Hyattsville, Md. Fellows receive a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
