The Pennington Biomedical Research Center invites qualified applicants to apply for a faculty appointment at the Full, Associate or Assistant Professor level in the area of health economics. Individuals with a wide variety of interests will be considered, but preference will be given to individuals whose research aligns with the current strengths of the Center, which revolve around the interactions among nutrition, physical activity, health and chronic disease primarily as it relates to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and aging. It is expected that the successful candidate will develop an independent and innovative program of research in health economics and collaborate on studies of the medical, social, ethical, and economic implications of research currently being conducted at the Center. Interest in cost-effectiveness analysis, burden of disease studies, health care utilization, evaluation of health care delivery and health policy is desirable. The Center is currently making a significant investment in expanding the Population Science area, and has committed several new faculty positions to the area. All faculty appointments are academic appointments within the Louisiana State University System. The teaching and training mission of the 85-member faculty of Pennington is limited to the mentoring of postdoctoral fellows. The potential exists for the successful candidate to be cross-appointed with the Department of Economics in the E.J. Ourso College of Business on the main campus of Louisiana State University (www.bus.lsu.edu/economics <http://www.bus.lsu.edu/economics> ). Minimum qualification for this position is a PhD in Economics by August 2009. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with the rank and experience of the candidate. Senior candidates should have a distinguished record of research productivity.
