The message below from Carl Beck, Director of the NBER Conference Department
to me may interest you. In a subsequent phone conversation, Carl said that
American Express Travel certainly could be used to purchase tickets for
professional meetings such as AEA or PAA. Sometimes American Express Travel
will have discounts and sometimes they will not. If you have a grant, you
must pay American Express for the tickets and then get reimbursed from the
grant.
