Dear NBER Researchers -

I am writing to tell you about an important change in the
availability of NBER working papers. Effective January 1, 2012, all
NBER working papers that were distributed prior to a three year "moving
wall" are available for open access on the NBER website. They are also
available at no charge through SSRN. I hope that this change will
expand access to NBER research.

In addition, I thought that you might like to know that this year's
Summer Institute is scheduled for July 9-27, 2012. I would like to call
your attention to two events that may be of general interest:

     * On Tuesday, July 10, Steven Kaplan of the University of Chicago
Booth School of Business will deliver the 2012 Martin Feldstein
Lecture. His topic will be "CEO Pay and Corporate Governance."

     * On Wednesday-Thursday, July 18-19, Aviv Nevo of Northwestern and
Ariel Pakes of Harvard will deliver the annual "Econometrics Methods
Lectures." They will focus on discrete choice differentiated product
models that have been used extensively in the industrial organization
literature. The first day's lectures will cover basic models that have
been used to analyze various data sets, while the second day will
discuss more recent extensions, including the use of moment inequalities.

Further detailed information about Summer Institute plans will be
distributed in due course.

All best wishes for the New Year.
