The University of Colorado, Denver (UCD) seeks one full-time tenure track finance faculty (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor) in the Business School at the Downtown Denver Campus. As one of three institutions within the University of Colorado system, UCD is an urban campus located in the heart of the city's commercial, cultural and recreational districts and has proudly positioned itself to be one of the top urban research universities in the country. UCD was recently rated by Forbes magazine as the 34th best public university in the nation. The Business School has about 70 full time faculty, and offers the largest graduate business program in the region with about 1,000 MBA and MS students, plus 1,400 undergraduate business students. The Finance Program offers an MS in Finance and a financial management emphasis in the BSBA program, in addition to being an integral part of the MBA Program. The Finance Program currently has 14 full time faculty, of which 9 are tenure track who are actively involved in scholarly research.
Required Qualifications: Required qualifications for the position include a doctoral degree in Finance or Financial Economics from an AACSB accredited (or equivalent) university, teaching experience in finance, and evidence of successful research. The doctoral degree must be completed before a candidate can be appointed to the rank of assistant professor. Candidates without a completed doctoral degree will be considered only if the degree is very close to completion and they have research papers already published or accepted for publication.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications for the position include a completed doctoral degree in Finance from an AACSB accredited (or equivalent) university, a record of scholarly publications in leading academic journals, and teaching experience at both undergrad and grad levels at an AACSB (or equivalent) university. Successful candidates will show a commitment to excellence in research and teaching. Candidates for advanced rank must demonstrate significant accomplishments in research, teaching and service. Preferred areas of specialization include corporate finance / financial management, derivatives, although all areas of finance and financial economics will be considered. With a variety of diverse electives in our graduate program, flexibility in teaching is a plus.
