Submissions to RED Mini-Conference on "Misallocation and Productivity"

The Review of Economic Dynamics is organizing a mini-conference on misallocation and productivity within the 2011 SED Meetings which will take place in Gent (Belgium) from 7 - 9 July 2011. Papers for the mini-conference are selected by Diego Restuccia of the University of Toronto and Richard Rogerson of Princeton University. Submissions to the mini-conference must be submitted simultaneously to the Review of Economic Dynamics for possible publication in a special issue of the journal. The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2011.

The organizers welcome submissions on the general theme of Misallocation and Productivity. Recent work in many different settings has suggested that productive resources are often not efficiently allocated across establishments. Moreover, the extent of this misallocation varies significantly across countries, and its effects on various aggregate outcomes and welfare can be substantial. Contexts of interest include, but are not limited to: macro, development, trade, labor, finance, and industrial organization. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: (1) Measuring the degree of misallocation. (2) Isolating the underlying sources of misallocation. (3) Assessing the consequences of misallocation for allocations and welfare.

Submissions to the mini-conference will be handled through the general submission process for the 2011 SED conference in Gent. To submit a paper to the mini-conference, please log into conference maker conference submission website <http://editorialexpress.com/conference/SED2011> , upload your paper and abstract and make sure to select the area RED Mini-conference. (Long abstracts without papers are also welcomed, but in this case the abstract should provide some details of the analysis.) Next, proceed to the Review of Economic Dynamics submission website <http://www.ees.elsevier.com/red> to submit the paper there as well. When you submit to the Review of Economic Dynamics, you must enclose a cover letter stating that the submission is intended for the RED Special Issue on "Misallocation and Productivity" and that your paper is not already submitted anywhere else.

Remark: Papers submitted to the mini-conference that do not make it onto the mini-conference program will automatically be reconsidered for the overall SED program. It is therefore not necessary (and it is not possible) to submit the same paper twice in conference maker.
