Dear EEE Program Members,

I am very grateful to the many program members who have spoken with me
since last March, when Catherine Wolfram stepped down from her program
directorship to join the US Treasury Department as the inaugural Deputy
Assistant Secretary for Climate and Energy Economics.  At a future
program meeting, hopefully in person,  we will find time to thank
Catherine for her outstanding program leadership.

I am delighted to announce that Meredith Fowlie and Chris Knittel have
agreed to serve as the program's new co-directors.  Both are
wide-ranging scholars with interests that cut across environmental and
energy economics.  Both have served on the EEE program's steering
committee for several years.  Meredith's research has focused on
market-based environmental regulations, energy efficiency, and energy
use in developing nations.  She is the Class of 1935 Endowed Chair in
Energy, and Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics, at the
University of California, Berkeley, where she also co-directs the Energy
Institute at Haas.  Chris is the George P. Shultz Professor of Applied
Economics at MIT Sloan.  He also directs MIT's Center for Energy and
Environmental Policy Research.  Chris' research has emphasized firm and
consumer responses to public and private policies, with particular
emphasis on the electricity and transportation sectors.   I look forward
to working with Meredith and Chris to build on the EEE Program's past
successes and to launch new initiatives.  I hope that you will join me
in welcoming them to their new roles.

Thank you for your ongoing engagement with the NBER -- all best wishes.
