Dear NBER DEV program members:

We are writing with a few updates:
* We are delighted to welcome our new DEV program members: Belinda
Archibong, Vittorio Bassi, Augustin Bergeron, Susanna Berkouwer, Marshall
Burke, Mesay Gebresilasse, Greg Lane, Eoin McGuirk, and Sandip Sukhtankar.
Welcome! We look forward to seeing you at future DEV programs.

* The DEV NBER Summer Institute will be held July 24-25, 2023 in Cambridge,
MA. In particular, we want to note that Duncan Thomas will be giving an
Invited Lecture during the DEV meetings, which we hope you all can attend.
The full program is available here:
https://conference.nber.org/altsched/si23dev
Thanks to Orazio Attanasio, Emily Breza, Claudio Ferraz, Rachel
Glennerster, Jeremy Magruder, Anant Nyshadham, and Leonard Wantchekon who
worked with Seema to choose the program.

* As you may know, in previous meetings, we have had a limited number of
slots to invite researchers based in low-and-middle countries to attend the
DEV Summer Institute meeting and future DEV program meetings.

We are thrilled to announce that for this summer's meeting, the Review of
Economics and Statistics has generously agreed to fund travel costs for up
to 4 researchers (up to a maximum of $1500 total per person), and the NBER
has agreed to cover the hotel costs for these participants during the DEV
meetings (up to 3 nights). Between these two new sources of funding, this
means that we can now support up to 4 researchers to attend the meetings.

We ask that a DEV member sponsor someone you think would particularly
benefit from attending, and that the person doing the inviting be
prepared to serve as host for the visiting scholar at the meeting so that
they make the most of the experience.

The only catch is that timing is tight since we need to tell the NBER by
the end of the month who is coming. So if you are interested in sponsoring
someone, please email one of us by *May 30 *with the name and CV of the
person you are sponsoring, and a brief paragraph explaining the reason for
the nomination. Since slots are limited, we may not be able to accommodate
all requests, so potential invitees should not make any firm travel plans
until you hear confirmation from us.

* Please mark your calendars for the fall program meeting which will be
held Dec 1, 2023 in Cambridge.

Best wishes,
Ben and Seema
