Dear NBER DEV members

Thanks to those of you who participated in the Summer Institute meeting. I
hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. The videos of the Master Lectures by
Esther Duflo and Penny Goldberg are available here:
    http://conference.nber.org/programs/dev/dev.html

and the slides from those and previous Master Lectures are available here:
    http://conference.nber.org/programs/dev/devsi.html

This year, we experimented with inviting two colleagues from developing
countries who collaborate with DEV members to the Summer Institute. Rema
Hanna and Ben Olken invited two of their Indonesian collaborators; it was
a great success. Jim Poterba has allowed us to continue this initiative
and so you, as a DEV member, have the opportunity to invite up to two
collaborators to a future SI. If you will attend SI next year and have
collaborators from developing countries whom you would like to invite,
please let me know. If there is excess demand, we will follow a first come
first serve rule. The NBER does not have funding to cover the costs of
your collaborators.

The 2019 DEV Summer Institute meeting is scheduled for 21-23 July.

You should have received a call for papers for our Fall program meeting
which will be in Cambridge from lunchtime on Nov 30 to lunchtime on Dec 1.
Paper submissions will be accepted up to 6am EST on Tuesday 25 September.
I am grateful to Esther Duflo, Joe Kaboski, Jeremy Magruder, Mark
Rosenzweig and Chris Woodruff who will serve on the program selection
committee with me. I hope you will submit your papers and join us at the
meeting.

Best wishes, Duncan
