All,
We wanted to send out a quick note, since the DAE summer institute is next week. It is a terrific lineup of papers and abstracts.
Paper presenters: Many of you have attended or presented in the past. If you have not, the main thing to know is that questions and comments tend to start after the first few minutes, so be prepared and time your 50 minute presentation time accordingly. If you have not already done so, please upload your paper soon.
Abstract presenters: The abstracts are 5-minute presentations. You will have the full 5 minutes, since there will not be any time allotted for questions and answers. (Q&A can happen during breaks). Your slides need to be loaded from your USB well before the start of the abstract session. Because we are doing a large number of presentations in a short time frame, time will be strictly monitored. Make sure to time your presentation to be 5 minutes or less. (Like the famed TV show, the Gong Show (1976-1980), you will be 'gonged' off if you go over 5 minutes.) There is no expectation that abstract presenters will upload a paper. That said, if you have a paper and are so inclined, you are welcome to upload it.
We are looking forward to seeing you,
Karen, Charlie, and Trevon
