As most of you know, David Landes died on August 17, 2013. A Memorial Service for David will be held on March 2 (the day after the DAE Spring Program Meeting) at 2 pm, at Harvard Hillel, 52 Mt. Auburn St., Cambridge, MA (just two blocks from the NBER). I will be speaking at it along with Henry Rosovsky, David's son Richard Landes and several others. You are warmly invited to attend this appreciation for David Landes.
David Landes retired in 1997 as Coolidge Professor of History and Professor of Economics at Harvard and continued to attend and contribute to the Harvard Economic History Workshop for many years. David was a historian among economists and an economist among historians-a rare crossover and an exceptional scholar in the world of ideas.
