Each year I have a meeting with Martin Feldstein to keep him current on
DAE member activities. If you find the time, please give me a sentence or
two concerning the following (filling in the blanks below would be much
appreciated):

1. What are you currently working on (just a few sentences will do since
I know of many of your projects)?
I in collaboration with Joshua Rosenbloom (and Peter Mancall) are
continuing our research on economic development in 18th century British
North America. We have virtually completed our work on the Lower South
region, and are in the process of shifting our attention to the Mid
Atlantic.

2. What current grants do you have or have applied for (list which are
through the NBER and which are through your home institution)?
Included in that shift of our attention to the Mid Atlantic is an NSF
Proposal we shall submit before the Aug. deadline. That proposal will be
submitted through the NBER.
An NSF grant to finance the work on the Lower South expired this Spring.
That grant went through our home institution.

3. What academic/research relationships do you have with others/other
groups in the NBER outside of the DAE (e.g., conferences organized or
attended, research projects)?
     None at this time.

4. Anything else you want me to know about? In particular, are there
*untenured* members of our profession you want to recommend to
become FRF's?

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you at the 2001 NBER-DAE Summer
Institute. The program put together by Jeremy, Bill, and Peter is
spectacular.

With regards,

Claudia
