Dear Children's Program Members -
I include in this message the announcement of a major new initiative at
NICHD, which may provide an excellent opportunity for a number of you to
fund your research in the coming years. The NICHD has devoted a significant
pot of money (by my understanding at least $3 million per year for a number
of years) to specifically fund new research on the determinants of
well-being of low income children. Jeff Evans, the program officer at NICHD
directly involved with this initiative, tells me that this is a very
fruitful initiative for economic research, in particular research that has
some interdisciplinary element.
I would be happy to discuss this further with anyone who is interested in
putting together a proposal in this area.
