Dear NBER Researchers -

I am writing to bring three items to your attention.

First, the first issue of the _NBER Reporter_ each year lists
awards received by NBER-affiliated researchers during the previous
calendar year. If you received an honor during 2016 that you would like
us to include, please send an email to my assistant, Magdalen
Blankenship (magdalen_at_nber.org) by Sunday, February 19, with "2016
Awards" in the subject line. Please include a description of no more
than 25 words in the body of the message. To keep the list of awards of
manageable length, we cannot include honors bestowed by researchers'
home universities, such as named chairs. If you shared your award with
other researchers, please include that information in your message.

Second, this Sunday, February 5, is the deadline for nominating
researchers for potential Faculty Research Fellow and Research Associate
status. If you have a candidate to propose, please follow the
directions in the email that you received from Denis Healy on January 18
with the subject line "NBER Nominations." That message included your
personalized link to our web-based nomination tool. If you cannot find
that message, please email Denis (dhealy_at_nber.org). Please be
particularly attentive to nominating researchers from under-represented
minority groups for potential NBER affiliation.

Finally, this year's NBER Summer Institute will take place between
July 10 and July 28, 2017. The current schedule is posted at

http://conference.nber.org/confer/2017/SI2017/SI2017.html

Please note that on Wednesday July 19, Lord Mervyn King, who served as
Governor of the Bank of England from 2003 until 2013, will deliver this
year's Martin Feldstein Lecture.

All best wishes for the spring semester. I look forward to seeing
you in July if not before.

Jim Poterba
