Dear NBER Family Members -
On Thursday evening July 24, during the most heavily-attended week of
the NBER Summer Institute, the NBER family will gather at the Hotel
Sonesta in Cambridge to celebrate Marty Feldstein's leadership of the NBER
and to thank Marty for his service. I am sure that we will break all
records for attendance at an NBER event. Bob Hall, one of the inaugural
Program Directors, and I will be organizing an after-dinner program that
will feature a number of talks about Marty's contributions to the NBER.
I hope that you will save the date and make every effort to attend. I
know that a short after-dinner program will not provide an adequate outlet
for all of the expressions of thanks from the NBER family, which now
numbers more than one thousand Research Associates and Faculty Research
Fellows. I will therefore be happy to collect any written remarks that
you would like to convey to Marty, and to present them to him at the July
24 gathering. If you would like to contribute something to this
collection, please mail your contribution to me, ideally printed on your
letterhead, by July 15. (c/o NBER, 1050 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge
