New Website is Live!

Dear Staff Colleagues -

I am pleased to announce that our new website went live around 8:30 this
morning.  The new site features a responsive design that supports all
screen sizes, easy integration of photos and videos, new resources for
communicating the research findings associated with NBER-based grants
and research projects, and a new portal – MyNBER – to support affiliated
researchers’ many interactions with the NBER.  It offers improved
searchability and transparency within various types of content,
including working papers, books, conferences, and videos.  It also
allows three free working paper downloads per year per IP address, so an
occasional visitor who is searching for a recent working paper but does
not have an institutional subscription will no longer encounter the
paywall that otherwise applies to papers distributed in the last 18 months.

To facilitate the transition to the new site, a summary of how to find
some of our most widely viewed content, such as working papers,
conferences, and information about affiliates, may be found at
https://www.nber.org/welcome.

The website project has been a team effort, and almost everyone on our
staff has helped get us to this go-live moment.  I am grateful for all
of the work that made this project a success.  I must acknowledge
several members of our community who have been indispensable  in making
this transition.  Alex Aminoff, David Jan, Alterra Milone, Debby
Nicholson, Charlie Radin, Inna Shapiro, and Kevin Tasley have been
working tirelessly on this project, while also holding down their other
NBER duties.  We also owe a great collective debt to Tim Grady, our
consulting project manager, who has provided invaluable technical and
process design expertise.  Congratulations to everyone on a superb job,
well done!

I hope that as you work with the new website, you will share your
reactions – positive or negative – to the new website, and help us to
improve its functionality. Please send comments to webmaster_at_nber.org.
Thank you!
