6/12/2001 = Start date of this file by Jean Roth, jroth@nber.org 2002-10-22 -- It appears that Alaska, Hawaii, and much of California is missing from 1981 data. Update 2002-07-14 by jroth@nber.org -- A code of 1 from 1964-1988 for Highest grade attended means 'none'. Update 3/13/2002 by jroth@nber.org -- According to the 1964-1965 original BLS documentation: "Records in Rotation Groups 4 and 8 were not in the March Income Sample* therefore they do not contain valid income data... and are coded '19' in the income range fields." Thanks to Justin McCrary for discovering and reporting this. Update 11/21/2001 by jroth@nber.org -- Revised length of vnmajid and vnminid in cpsmw.dct Update 6/14/2001 by jroth@nber.org -- I had a report of an excessive jump in Total Household Income from 1975 to 1976. I believe this is due to bottom coding, so I revised the codebook entry for Total Family Income to include this information: -9999 = -$9999 or less [in 1968-75 only] 23399766 = $23399766 or more [in 1989-1991 only] -389961 = -$389961 or less [in 1989-1991 only]
