Shared Savings Program Accountable Care Organizations (ACO) PUF

SSP ACO PUF - To address the increasing number of requests for SSP ACO data, the Centers for Medicare (CM) has created a standard analytical file that CMS can use to efficiently satisfy these requests.  It is the intent of CM to publish the ACO-level public-use file (PUF) that contains ACO-specific metrics as well as summarized beneficiary and provider information for each performance year of the SSP program.

Data Alert: The 2013 SSP ACO PUF was updated in May 2015 as follows:

• The names of 3 variables were changed, and their values updated, to align with the “Medicare Shared Savings Program Accountable Care Organizations Performance Year 1 Results ” data available through Data.CMS.gov:
  • Previously SaveLoss, now BnchmkMinExp
  • Previously SharedSavings, now EarnShrSavings
  • Previously SharedLosses, now OweLosses
• The values for 2 variables  –  QualPerfShare and FinalShareRate – were updated to reflect the 60% quality sharing rate for Track 2 ACOs.
• The values for the variables that begin with CapAnn in the variable name were updated to incorporate a claims completion factor of 1.013.
• Clarifying changes were made to the supporting documentation (Dictionary file).
