The Sonnet Tempo SATA controller is the only PCI serial ATA controller at the local Micro-Center that supports FreeBSD. I should have guessed as much - it is labeled for the Mac. Note that motherboard SATA has always worked for us, but never non-raid PCI boards. We tested with FreeBSD 6.0 only.
