Wave 9 Topical Module Note
The universe for the "Value of Business" topical module includes persons who
have a business at the end of the reference period. The means that the
response to the core variable EBIZNOW -- Does ... still own this business?
--for the business in question must be yes (equal to 1) or the value in
the variable EEBDATE -- When was the last date ... had this business? --
must be on or after the last day of the reference period. These dates were as
follows for the 1996 Panel Wave 9 Topical Module:
Rotation 1 November 30, 1998
Rotation 2 December 31, 1998
Rotation 3 January 31, 1999
Rotation 4 February 28, 1999
Because these dates had not been updated appropriately in the universe test
and were in fact earlier than the beginning of the reference period, cases
which should have been excluded from universe because the business was no
longer owned by the respondent were included. Data was imputed for these
cases.
