SUMMARY ANNUAL REPORT FOR

NATIONAL BUREAU OF ECONOMIC RESEARCH, INC.
TAX-DEFERRED ANNUITY

403(b) PLAN

This is a summary annual report for the National Bureau of Economic
Research, Inc. Tax-Deferred Annuity 403(b) (the Plan) for plan year
ended 12/31/2012. The annual report has been filed with the Employee
Benefits Security Administration, U.S. Department of Labor, as
required under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA).

Basic Financial Statement

Benefits under the Plan are provided through insurance and through a
trust fund. Plan expenses were $985,067. These expenses are
entirely for benefits paid to participants and beneficiaries. A
total of 352 persons were participants in or beneficiaries of the
Plan at the end of the plan year, although not all of these persons
had yet earned the right to receive benefits.

The value of Plan assets, after subtracting liabilities of the Plan,
was $30,473,422 as of 12/31/2012, compared to $27,675,839 as of
1/1/2012. During the plan year, the Plan experienced an increase in
its net assets of $2,797,583. This increase includes unrealized
appreciation in the fair value of the Plan assets. The Plan had
total income of $3,782,650, comprising employee contributions of
$392,483, interest and dividends of $476,879, and net appreciation in
fair value of investments of $2,913,288.
