Hi,

I would like to remind members of the relevant programs in the NBER
community about a newly established standing program at NSF -- the
Science of Science & Innovation Policy Program (SciSIP). This program
is interested in supporting research by economists that advances the
empirical and theoretical basis for science and innovation policy.

The program collaborates closely with the NSF Economics Program, but
SciSIP proposals are due once a year, on Sept 9. Proposals submitted
to the Economics Program for their January 18 target date will generally
not be considered for SciSIP funding.

The program funds a wide variety of economic research. This includes,
but is not limited to, research on the science and engineering
workforce, innovation within organizations, the adoption and diffusion
of technology, the optimal design of scientific and research incentives,
as well as building data and tools that support scientific research in
the field. SciSIP is an interdisciplinary program. The reviewers and
advisory panelists include economists as well as other social
scientists.

Many NBER researchers have been funded by SciSIP in the past four years;
more information is available at http://scienceofsciencepolicy.net

For more information about SciSIP please contact me at (jlane_at_nsf.gov).
For information about how SciSIP collaborates with NSF's Economics
program, you can contact me or Nancy Lutz, the Economics Program
Director (nlutz_at_nsf.gov)
