Good afternoon!

I am writing with best regards from the Lincoln Institute of Land
Policy and to alert you to a new program we have initiated. Becky
Blank suggested that this could possibly be included on an NBER list
serve.

The Lincoln Institute is initiating a mentoring program targeted to
young assistant professors interested in public finance or urban
economics. Actually, it need not be limited to assistant professors,
as long as the economists are interested in publishing. I'll paste it
below as well as attach the document.

Thanks for your help in getting the word out to likely candidates.

Best wishes,

Daphne

Junior Scholars Program

In 2010 the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy is introducing a program
for junior scholars in which assistant professors of economics
specializing in public finance or urban economics will have an
opportunity to work with senior economists. The assistant professors
funded through this program will be known as Lincoln Scholars. This
program is organized by Daphne Kenyon and Daniel P. McMillen.

Lincoln Scholars will be invited to the Institute on May 6-8, 2010 for
a two day program that will include:

presentations by a panel of journal editors on “how to publish in
public finance and urban economics journals,”

a workshop in which senior scholars will comment on draft papers or
proposals written by the Lincoln Scholars, and

a seminar in which scholars in public finance and urban economics from
around the country will present their latest research (see seminar
webpage:
https://www.lincolninst.edu/education/education-coursedetail.asp?id=668).

Applications require a letter of application, résumé, a one page
description of research interests, and a letter of recommendation from
the applicant’s department chair or dissertation advisor. Finalists
will be chosen on the basis of: 1) their potential to publish
significant research relevant to the Lincoln Institute and the
Department of Valuation and Taxation (see Lincoln website for
description of the Institute:
http://www.lincolninst.edu/aboutlincoln/, and the department:
http://www.lincolninst.edu/aboutlincoln/valuation_taxation.asp) and 2)
the likelihood that they would benefit from participation in the
Lincoln Scholars program.

The Lincoln Institute will pay travel expenses for the Lincoln
Scholars plus a $500 stipend.

Applications should be sent to Daphne Kenyon, Lincoln Institute of Land
Policy,
113 Brattle Street, Cambridge MA 02138, or dkenyon_at_lincolninst.edu, by
February 28, 2010. Finalists will be notified by March 30. Finalists will be
asked to submit draft papers or proposals two weeks before the May program.
