Subject: next EE meetings

Dear NBER Environmental Econ (EE) working group members (cc PE program):

(1) Our next EE meeting is April 6-7 at the NBER in Cambridge. If we find
a paper of interest both to the Public Economics program and the EE group,
then the last paper of the PE meeting will be the first paper of the EE
meeting. If so, we start with lunch Friday and end with lunch Saturday.

(2) You will see a "call for papers" shortly, asking you to send me an
email by February 2 with a paper you'd like to present in April. All PE
members are invited to submit, and to stay for the EE meeting in April.

(3) Please tell me about the best paper you've seen recently by any author
I ought to invite to submit it, whether that person is in our working
group or not (especially if it is in the PE/EE intersection).

(4) The EE days of the Summer Institue will be MONDAY-TUESDAY July 23-24,
organized by Rob Williams (Texas) and John List (Chicago). The due date
for those submissions will be in March. We have switched back to Monday-
Tuesday for reasons given below that you do not need to read.

We met for years on the Monday-Tuesday of PE week of the Summer Institue,
which was the fourth week after July 4. That was often the last days of
July or even August 1. Then we realized that those days always conflicted
with the AAEA/AERE meetings, so we moved to Thursday-Friday of PE week.
Now the NBER has the PE week in the THIRD week after July 4, so we can
return to Monday-Tuesday without conflict (the AAEA/AERE meeting this year
is Sunday-Wednesday July 29-Aug1 in Portland, Oregon). In general, the
Mon-Tues have fewer other PE sessions, while Thurs-Friday include tax and
social insurance sessions that our EE/PE members like to attend.

Thanks. Don
