Dear Productivity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Group members,

As many of you may have heard, Steven Klepper died over the holiday weekend.
Even though Steven was not a formal affiliate of our program, many of us learned from and were influenced by his research.

Here is a note from his wife about the sad news.

Best wishes,

Nick and Josh

----Message from Florence----

Dear friends and colleagues,

I want to tell you that my husband of 33 years, Steven Klepper, passed
away today at 3:19 PM after a valiant battle with melanoma in our Squirrel
Hill home . He was surrounded by our children Julian and Arielle,
Arielle's husband Jeremy, my mom Betty, and me. He died peacefully while
listening to his favorite songs. Although his body succumbed to the
disease his mind never faltered. He was sharp and witty to his very last
hour. The funeral will be held on Wednesday morning in Homewood
Cemetery's Chapel. As you might imagine, my family and I will be
attending to numerous details this week. I thought it would be best to
communicate this information to you today via email. Emails or texts are
fine, however, calls are better left to the weekend. Thank you for your
thoughts and prayers.

Regards,

Florence

-----Information on Funeral Service and memorial contributions----

The funeral service will be on Wednesday (today) at Homewood Cemetery's
non-denominational chapel (1599 South Dallas Ave, Pittsburgh, PA.)
Visitation with the family will be from 11:30a-12:30p and the service
will begin at 12:30p.

In the Fall, CMU is planning on having a memorial for Steven, and details
will be shared later. Florence has appreciated receiving the many
messages from several of you asking how to send your wishes to the family,
and inquiring about setting up a memorial fund. A memorial fund that will
be used for academic purposes (e.g. furthering Steven's passion for
doctoral student mentorship) will be set up later. In the interim, if you
would like, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the
Crossroads Foundation, 2915 Webster Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
