Call for Proposals for the 23rd NBER Macro Annual Conference

April 4 and 5, 2008

Cambridge, MA

We are inviting proposals for the NBER's 23rd Macro Annual Conference, to
be held on April 4 and 5, 2008 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. As in previous
years, we plan to solicit papers for the conference. However, in keeping
with our new practice, we would also like to consider proposals from the
outside and strongly encourage submissions. In keeping with the tradition
of the Macro Annual, we invite submissions on any important topic within
the field of macroeconomics (including open economy macroeconomics and
economic growth). We are particularly interested in papers with a strong
empirical content and policy relevance. Discussions centered around
important theoretical controversies are also welcomed, though generally
papers should have a significant empirical dimension. To get a more
explicit sense of the
type of paper that is appropriate, it may be helpful to examine recent
issues of the Macro Annual and also the program for the Spring 2007 meeting
on the NBER's Conference website:
http://www.nber.org/~confer/2007/macro07/program.html.

Proposals should be no more than 3 double spaced pages. "Bob Hall" rules
are in effect: we will contact only authors of accepted proposals. However,
proposals not accepted for the 2008 conference may be considered for the
future. Those interested in applying should send a .pdf of the proposal to
Daron Acemoglu (daron@mit.edu), Kenneth Rogoff (krogoff@harvard.edu) and
Michael Woodford (michael.woodford@columbia.edu) no later than July 15, 2007
