Dear Colleague,

On April 5 and 6, 2001, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York will host a conference on "Financial Innovation and Monetary Transmission*" The conference, to be held here at the Bank, will examine recent changes to the economy and financial system, and their implications for the conduct of monetary policy. In light of your interest in this topic, we would like to invite you to attend.

A preliminary program and a registration form are attached as Acrobat files. As you can see, we have assembled an outstanding group of speakers and discussants for the conference, and we anticipate lively participation by conference attendees. Space is limited, however, so if you are interested in attending, please return the conference registration form by March 16. (Note that the registration form can be filled in electronically, using the Acrobat reader, and returned via e-mail.)

We have reserved a block of rooms at a nearby hotel for conference participants and attendees. If you need a room, you can indicate that on the reply form. Please note that the deadline for room reservations is March 5.

We sincerely hope that you will be able to join us on April 5 and 6. If you have further questions on the conference, you can contact my co-organizer Trish Mosser (patricia.mosser@ny.frb.org, or 212-720-6416) or myself. Any questions about the logistics can be directed to Rose Carofalo (rose.carofalo@ny.frb.org, or 212-720-1819).

Sincerely,
Ken Kuttner
