To: Members of the Monetary Economics Program:

Greg Mankiw recently told me that he wants to step down as the
director of the Monetary Economics program. Greg was the first director
after the program was created from the previous program on Financial
Markets and Monetary Economics. He has provided strong intellectual
leadership as Program Director and helped to shape an active and exciting
group. I am grateful to him for his efforts and know that the program
members share this feeling.

I am pleased to report that Ben Bernanke has agreed to succeed
Greg as Program Director. I'm looking forward to working with Ben in this
new capacity.
